Winning Green Tips

General

Five visitors provided some awesome tips for going green. So I'm going to send them a Sasquatch prize pack. These five winners will each receive a prize pack full of cool Sasquatch products. It was hard choosing five winning tips, but here goes:

1. Print on both sides of paper. Use waste paper as scrap notepads

2. Read the ingredients on your school and home cleaners! Replace the ones with excess filler and possibly toxic chemicals. (check the ingredients at www.cosmeticdatabase.com)

3. After writing on one side and finishing with current days projects, I place a big X across the used side, flip it over and use the unused side, so not to waste! Then I shred my papers and use them for packing storage materials, or give the shredded paper to the local school for their art projects.

4. Your local city or county has many incentives for going green and living more sustainably that you are probably not aware of. They also have a lot of resources that can save you money and reduce your carbon footprint. For instance, you might be able to get rebates for buying rain barrels, which collect rain water. Then if you have a drought you can use the water you have collected to water your vegetable or flower garden.

5. Hang a clothes line and stop using the dryer, your clothes will smell lovely and the amount of money you save is fabulous! Also to brighten your clothes, add a teaspoon of Black Pepper to your wash, clothes will last longer and it will brighten your clothes. Forget the chemicals.
